Home is where the wheels stop!

12-Jun-2010 12
Well hmmm...Where were we? Ahh yes the farm! So we managed to make some serious headway in sorting out our "other-worldly" possessions. Rearranged the rig gear (again). I think we managed to make some sense out of alot of the old crap we had! Sheds up and stuff shuffled into them, hopefully to get thinned out more in due time LOL. We spent a couple weeks at the farm after some good visits with most of Gary's family there. A couple of great BBQs and a major computer crash for me. But otherwise just relaxing and stuff. Mothers Day was a real treat as I received a shiny new laptop! Thanks Sweetie!
So the week of the 17th we headed to McLeod River to hang out in the bush and relax some more! I figured we would need to rest up for the long weekend with my family! The night before we were to head out I got wind that my brother Mike was wondering where we were. So thru text messages and some serious luck, Mike and Leslee showed up for a test run of the weekend to come LOL We practiced quite late but i think we managed quite well! The next day found us sloooowly getting going and on the road to Iosogun Lake...through snow... and rain... to a very muddy and interesting 10km stretch of Alberta's finest back roads! Once we arrived and got set up we found out that some of the younger clan might not be braving the awful roads, can't say i blame them. Some real troopers managed to make it and hats off the Kari and Matthew for tenting it all weekend! I'm pretty sure the drinkies we all shared prolly made the sleeping much easier for them. It was great to see the family who di make and even more awesome to meet some cousins that I never had a chance to before! Fun memories were made and shared. Great weekend even with the snow! Good job to Rene and Marilyn for their work getting it organized!
From there we headed to Grande Prairie for a couple days. Turned out to be a longer visit then planned as we ended up finding a truck for Andrew while we were there. Thanks again Randy and Marilyn, he's enjoying it immensely.
While we were there Gary took a job in Peace River, so off we went again! Found a little campground closeish to the job for Gary. Leddy Lake, kinda neglected but cheap and quiet. After his "stressful" week of work Gary needed to go fishing. We headed to the Grande Cache area. Stopped at Sheep Creek for 4 days. the fishing was lousy and it rained so hard we were making little drains to get the 4 inch lake in front of the door down a bit. Nice little spot, we could here the creek running all the time, very soothing. The only problem was the 2 am train.. you could hear it rumbling towards us for 15 minutes before he sounded off at the road nearby... so we decided to find a new home! lol
Which brings us to yesterday!! OMFG I wasn't thinking when Gary said "well.. we can go to Berland river and hear the train still and there is slightly better fishing OR we can adventure down hiway 40 south of Robb and see what's there! Lots of fishing spots!" So I said offhandedly, sure... adventure it is! Well... its been raining... and most of 40 isn't paved... or maintained... needless to say it was some slow going. rOuGh ride. I was ahead in the jeep with the radio saying "bumps.. big bumps... OMG potholes" killed the batteries and he just watched when i was braking and slowing to a crawl. But the light at the end of the tunnel is the perfect little trout lake called Fairfax. Beautiful campground, lots of trees, neighbours aren't right up in your face! it's beautiful.
So hopefully Gary can catch some dinner and we can enjoy the peace and quiet here for a couple weeks, unless he gets back to reality and finds another job ROFL!!
So I leave you again Dear Reader and hope to see you soon! Love you miss you *cheers*
