20 Dec to 22 Jan hehe slacker post...

Feb 22nd
Wow... guess I should have taken some blog/journal lessons from my dear sister Marilyn lol.
Sooo... where were we last... We spent Christmas and new years still in Quartzsite. Uneventful little town. The big show came and went. Tons of junk to be seen. More rocks than most mountain ranges have I think! We spent some time touring around a bit but there really isn't alot to see in the desert. I'm not sure if I'm alone here but when I thought 'desert' I thought sand and cactus and more sand! Well here it is the Sonoran desert... so its rocks and dirt and cactus and more rocks and dirt!! I still have not seen a roadrunner so as far as I'm concerned the only one in existence is in the cartoons *meep meep* Gary claims to have seen one but go figger.. no picture LOL
While we were sitting in Quartzsite, Gary was researching something to alter/repair/upgrade on the 5er and found an neat little web site. He told me to "check it out, sign up and tell them we'll be there around the 14th of Jan" The site is Montanaowners.com. A great little find for us! So I joined up and off we went to The Circling of the Montanas! Our new friends Dick and Jackie took a group of us out to the Desert Bar. It's only open weekends from noon til sunset. Carved into the mountains out of the remnants of an old mine is this little country bar. Cheap drinks and burgers and some great live music! A great time was had by all! We made alot of new friends and got some great ideas about mods for the rig! It sort of got Gary motivated on making us more self sufficient when we go boondocking (dry camping). We are just in the middle of getting the final stages ordered up! We got the BIG batteries and the inverter/charger system, now we just have to get the solar panels and were set!
So we spent almost 3 weeks with the circle group, just outside of Quartzsite on BLM land. After the was done for us, we moved slightly north for a week at Cattail Cove, just outside Lake Havasu City, AZ. beautiful spot, I'm sure we will go back there. Nice little campground on the banks of Lake Havasu. We kept in contact with a few others from the circle and had made plans to meet up nearer Lake Havasu City to watch a weekend of fireworks display. It's part of the Lake Havasu City WinterBlast and Western Pyrotechnics Convention. So we found ourselves boondocked outside the city on more (you guessed it) rocks and dirt and cactus!
After the fun of all that we headed to Bullhead City to refresh lol! Get some laundry done and have lots of unlimited HOT showers! Dry camping is easy on the budget but hard on the water supply. So here we sit for a couple of weeks. Gary just put the order in for the solar panels so we will be here until the arrive and probably till they get installed. This means I must climb up on the roof of the rig lol
Bullhead City, AZ... across the Colorado river from Laughlin, NV. We haven't checked out too much around here. We did go to one of the casinos briefly... *yawn* Not really our cup of tea but the free drinks are umm well watered down and free LMAO
We've toured a little bit but I'm seeing this year is the year that we get the trailer sorted out. We've upgraded, moved, shuffled and added on so many parts, this is feeling more like a home and less like an RV everyday! And THEN dear reader, i WILL get pictures up :) i promise!
So I leave you again, hopefully not for as long... Love you miss you xox
